Course Description
Welcome to World History I!
Ms. Lirosi * Fall 2015
"How shall we live?" ~ Leo Tolstoy
In a sense, history is nothing more than the study of humankind's attempt to answer Tolstoy's fundamental question. This year we will be exploring events and developments in world history that not only helps us to understand how people used to live, but how we live as well.
History is a story, and like any great story, it is as dependent upon the reader as it is on the author. Students of history create it as much as those who lived it, by infusing meaning through philosophical inquiry, critical analysis, evaluation and empathic reasoning. History is not about the past. It's about you, and it's about me. History is alive!
